WATERPROOFING SYSTEM FOR ROOFS & PARAPETS USING WEATHERKLAD

PREPARATION

It is extremely important that no short cuts are taken throughout the entire procedure to achieve the desired results
Ensure the surface is free of dirt, fungal & oily deposits and loosely bound powdery paint
Remove dirt with WeatherPrufe Tornado Degreaser, thinned 1:5 with clean water
Rinse off well
Allow to dry thoroughly
Any fungal growth should be sterilized with WeatherPrufe Fungal Wash prior to water jetting the surface
A second application should be applied and allowed to dry before application commences
Loosely bound paint should be water-jetted and allowed to dry before one coat of Bonding Liquid is applied as a prime coat
Allow to dry for 4 hours before application of the waterproofing system

APPLICATION OF THE FIRST COAT

The surface to be coated is marked off and an appropriate length of non-woven polyester membrane is cut to size
Apply one liberal coat of WeatherKlad Pure Acrylic at a spread rate of 2 – 3 sqm per litre by means of good quality brush
Embed the membrane into the wet paint layer

APPLICATION OF THE MEMBRANE SATURATION COAT

Inspect carefully to ensure that the entire surface area is in contact with the substrate and no hollow areas are present
A second coat of WeatherKlad Pure Actylic at a spread rate of 2 – 3 sqm per litre is applied
This coat is best applied with a block brush and serves to fully saturate the membrane
Allow to dry before proceeding

APPLICATION OF THE TOP COATS

Once the saturated membrane is completely dry, apply the first of two top coats at a spread rate not exceeding 5 sqm per litre per coat
Allow to dry for 4 hours
Apply the final top coat of WeatherKlad Pure Acrylic at a spread rate of 5 sqm per litre per coat
