WET WALLSMoisture occupies interstitial spaces in cementitious substrates. Attempts to coat such surfaces result in impaired penetration of binders into the substrate, poor film formation of the coating and extension of the drying time of the product used.In addition to this, trapped moisture could cause the coating to blister, and delaminate from the surface. For these reasons, it is not recommended to attempt to coat wet walls. When coating previously wet plaster, it is important to prime the substrate with a binder-rich solvent based primer, such as WeatherPrufe Masonry Primer. On penetrating the substrate, the binder will restore much of the cohesive integrity of the cement plaster, lost by prolonged high moisture levels. |
